April 3rd 1956. First appearance on the Milton Berle show. ''Heartbreak Hotel'' became his 1st number one hit. ''Hound Dog'' became the new closing number of his act. Also in April began a two week residency at the New Frontier Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
